| Comments: | Just stumbled across your website dealing with Chattaway genealogy and believe I may be able to contribute some info about the NZ and Grand Rapids,USA branches of the Chattaways. I'm not familar with spreadsheets so if you're interested I'll just send it via normal email when I've got it all together I am the greatgrandson of Richard Henry Chattaway born Alcester 1847.My grandmother was Annie Meek (nee Chattaway)born in NZ 1871. A few years ago an elderly cousin provided some background on the family as well as allowing me to photocopy some early original Chattaway photos from the 1860's and 1870's........some could be even earlier. |

Quite emotional to see photo of dad(Charlie), and the picture of the babe in arms could be his brother who I was named after or possibly an older cousin? Have remarried and all my research is in the loft but I promise I will retrieve it when time allows and start adding anything I have to your research. I spent 20 years searching paper archives as you did and cannot wait to do more research on the internet. I still think that the name could have derived from someone who lived on the "way " to Chadwick, which is very close to Berkswell and Hampton in Arden. ie Chadwick way. Have spent some time with Chris Chataway's family and have a biography of their family written at Rotherwick.Not sure if I ever sent you this. Hope to hear from you. Well done |

This must be the marriage of Thomas Drinkwater Chataway to Anna Maria Alterieth on 8 November 1890 in Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia. Thomas was a son of Rev. James Chataway & Elizabeth Anne Drinkwater. My connection is throught my great-gradfather's sister Eleanor Latham, born Minchinhampton, Gloucestershire, who married John Alterieth and ended up in Australia. | Comments: | You have done well! I note you have Sandra Chattaway on your Excel sheet (born 1954). I met her about 15 years ago when I was on the Poole Deanery Synod. She was the Poole detached youth worker. I rang her up, and we discovered that we both grew up within yards of each other in Kings Norton, and we were both baptized in the same Church of St Nicholas, Kings Norton; me in 1941 and she (if I remember OK) in 1951. But we could not establish a link via the family tree. You seem to have got it! |
